Changes to Hertfordshire waste recycling centre opening hours will save the county council £6m.
From January 5, 2015, each of the 17 sites will close on its two quietest days, but remain open on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
Waste contractor AmeyCespa anticipates savings of £6 million over the next eight years.
County Councillor Terry Douris said: "Although we face serious financial pressures at the moment, by reducing the opening days and hours at our recycling centres we will be able to keep them all open."
