A college in St Albans has opened a new student-run kitchen and restaurant.
The Stables, based at the St Albans Campus of Oaklands College, is now open to the public for lunch on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and selected Thursday evenings for dinner.
All dishes are prepared by Oaklands’ catering and hospitality students so they can get first-hand experience of working in a real kitchen. They also get the chance to act as waiting staff for paying guests.
Oaklands’ commercial director Nicole Sadd said: "The Stables is the perfect environment for our students to get to grips with how a professional kitchen and restaurant operates. We can also show them how important it is to have high standards in everything they do and awareness of good customer service, so they are ready to work in the industry when they leave us. "
The Stables is also taking booking for functions and events. For more information, email: thestables@oaklands.ac.uk.
