Police and firefighters attended a car "well alight" opposite Redbourn Junior School this afternoon.
The fire started in the engine of the car, which was parked on a driveway in Long Cutt, and is believed to have been caused by a mechanical fault.
Firefighters from Redbourn arrived on scene at 3.15pm and called for police assistance as it was the end of the school day.
The crew used one hose reel and breathing apparatus to extinguish the blaze, which was all out at 3.35pm.
