Prepare – prepare to be enchanted!

For most of us, these days, Christmas is all about preparation.   Planning, buying,  travelling, wrapping, cooking, writing, dressing, cleaning – the release of Christmas energy is enough to power a small city.

Down at St Saviour’s we’ve been preparing for Christmas all year. Not because we are sad Clovises  (see The Meaning of Liff by Douglas Adams:

CLOVIS (q.v.)      One who actually  looks forward to putting up the Christmas decorations in the office. )

Not Clovis at all! Just prepared....

Every three years we host a Christmas Tree Festival in the church. The beautiful Gothic space – a St Albans secret – is transformed into a magical forest of a hundred trees, each one decorated by a different community group from the St Albans and Harpenden.

The effect is magical, and over the years, thousands of people have come to be enchanted and delighted, and, we hope, have glimpsed the joy and beauty at the heart of Christmas, the Joy and Beauty that is God.
