Harpenden town mayor, councillor Mary Maynard, has wished residents a good New Year.
Councillor Maynard said it was heart-warming to see all the work that goes on in the community, especially during the festive season.
She said: "It sets such a lovely example for our young people and encourages us all to think of others and get involved in our local community.
"Thank you to all those that give up their time and contribute so much to enhance our community life in Harpenden.
"I wish you all a restful and special time this Christmas. Thank you."
Councillor Maynard is now busy organising her forthcoming Burns Night in aid of Community Meeting Point Harpenden and Home-Start St Albans City and District.
It will take place on Friday, January 23, at Aldwickbury Park Golf Club.
