In the event of snow or severe weather conditions, there may be disruptions to the waste collection arrangements.

Waste collection crews aim to visit roads in line with the normal schedule if conditions allow, but in case they cannot, St Albans City and District Council said they will pull out all stops to catch up.

During periods of disruption, daily status updates will be published on the council's website and twitter, with a list of any inaccessible roads.

Where disruption is more severe and lasts three days or more, the council will implement a take-all policy for those roads that were missed. This means that all green waste collections will be suspended and when the crews can gain access to the road, they will collect all black and green waste together and send this to landfill.

Residents will have the option to keep their green bin until the next due collection if they wish the contents to be composted. Recycling boxes will not be included in the take-all arrangements and will be emptied on the next scheduled collection day.
