Harpenden Town Football Club Limited has been granted a new 15 year lease to continue at its ground in Rothamsted Park.

The new lease was agreed at the end of last year when the club’s existing lease was surrendered.

The club has plans to refurbish the ground over the next 12 months and it needed a new lease to apply for funding from St Albans District Council.

Under the new deal, the club is taking on responsibility for maintaining the building’s structure.

To help with the refurbishment, the council has given the club £20,000 to replace the roof.

The club also plans to install double glazed doors with security shutters, decorate the building’s exterior, create a new patio and footpath externally, provide new male, female and disabled toilet facilities and provide a new medical room.

Roman Motyczak, Chairman of Harpenden Town Football Club Limited, said: "We are delighted that the lease to our ground in Rothamsted Park has been renewed and that the council has agreed to provide funds towards the refurbishment.

"This is just the start of us achieving our vision of making Rothamsted Park the home for football in Harpenden.

"There is still a lot of work that needs to be done and we are looking for support from the whole of the Harpenden community to help us achieve our goal."
