The University of Hertfordshire has seen a significant increase in applications from people wanting to study there.

Applicants, who apply via the University and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS), have increased by 8.23 per cent compared to 2014.

Almost 27,000 students applied to the university in the latest round of UCAS applications which is an increase of 2,049 from the 2014 figure of 24,900. It is also the highest number of applicants the uiversity, which has a campus in St Albans, has ever seen.

Courses seeing te biggest rise in popularity include Marketing, Film and TV Production and Economics.

Deputy Vice Chancellor Ian Campbell said: "We are delighted to see such an increase in applicants to study at the University of Hertfordshire.

"The fact that a qualification from Hertfordshire is increasingly highly coveted is a testament to the quality of teaching, the employability of our graduates and the University’s commitment to making the student experience as enjoyable and fulfilling as possible."
