A 22-year-old man was assaulted by four offenders in St Albans on Sunday, February 1.

The incident occurred in St Peters Street, near the taxi rank, at around 3.10am, and the victim suffered bruising and swelling to his face having been punched a number of times. He may require surgery to his nose.

The offenders are described as four black men aged in their 20s. The main offender has short black hair and was wearing dark coloured clothing.

PC Joel Gill is investigating and said: "A couple kindly helped the victim get a taxi and made sure he got home. Unfortunately we don't have any details for these two people and I ask that they make contact with me as they may have vital information.

"I would also appeal to anyone else who may have been in the area at the time and saw what happened to contact me."

Anyone who can help is asked to contact PC Gill via 101, quoting crime reference number F1/15/376.
