Plans to build cottages in High Street, London Colney, which was originally refused by St Albans City and District Council, has been given the go ahead following an appeal.

Developers, Hilhams Properties Ltd, propose to build two, two bedroom semi-detached cottages.

The council refused the application on the basis that it was not in keeping with the character of the street scene and the parking area would harm the appearance of the listed buildings.

However, the inspector said in his report, the design of the proposal respected the area and therefore, it has been granted permission.
