Top authors will appear during a series of literary events at libraries across the county – kicking off in St Albans to mark World Book Day.

More than 30 events will be held around the county as part of Litfest 15, which celebrates authors and their novels.

The programme gets under way on March 5 at St Albans Library with a talk by author S J Watson on his latest book, Second Life.

Events will be held throughout the county before the festival closes on April 23, which is World Book Night.

Councillor Frances Button, Cabinet Member for Libraries, said: “There’s a fantastic range of authors lined up, covering the full spectrum of literary tastes, interests and themes.

"Events like Litfest ’15 are part of our vision for the future of libraries in Hertfordshire.

“We are committed to keeping the library as an inspiring place at the heart of the community, ambitious in its use of digital technology and delivered in partnership with local residents, organisations and communities.”
