A 25-year-old man has been arrested after an incident at a train station in St Albans this morning.
Nathan Smith, of Revelon Road, Lewisham was interviewed under caution and subsequently charged with assaulting a police officer, assault with intent to resist arrest and fare evasion.
A spokesman for British Transport Police confirmed that officers were called to St Albans City station at 8am after reports of a passenger without a ticket refusing to co-operate with rail staff.
Kit Bradshaw said: “Prior to our arrival we received a further report that a passenger had assaulted staff and been detained by an off-duty police officer."
Smith has been released on bail to appear at St Albans Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 17 March.
