A teenager was grabbed and attacked while walking down a street in Welwyn Garden City, detectives have confirmed.

Hertfordshire Constabulary said a 16-year-old boy from St Albans was walking down College Way between 7.30pm and 8.30pm on Monday, March 2, when three men aprroached him.

Officers said two men grabbed the teen, while a third assaulted the boy. They then took what officers are describing as a “small amount” of cash.

They then ran down an alleyway, next to the Waitrose store, in the direction of the town centre.

Two of the group are described as white and around 5ft 10ins. One was wearing a white hoodie, whilst the other was wearing a silver coloured hoodie.

The third is described as being Asian, of average build and around 6ft.

Detective Constable Gemma Kenealy from the Hatfield Local Crime Unit is investigating and said: “This was an unprovoked attack on a teenager who was fortunately not injured and I would like to identify the people responsible as soon as possible.

“I believe the public will be able to assist me with my enquiries and I ask anyone who witnessed the incident or saw three people matching the stated description in the area around the time of the incident to contact me. Any information, however insignificant it may seem, may assist me greatly with my investigation.”
