Macmillan Cancer Support is to get a boost following a grand garden raffle held by Homebase staff in St Albans.

The store launched its partnership with the charity on Saturday, March 28, with an opportunity to win a Qualcast 1000w mower, Qualcast trowel and hand fork, watering can and garden gloves.

Pete Williams, store manager for Homebase St Albans, in St Albans Retail park, Griffiths Way, said: "We are all absolutely delighted to be launching a new partnership with Macmillan.

"They provide such wonderful services to people living with cancer in our community and we hope the people of St Albans will come and support our launch event.

"One nursing hour costs £27 so we’re hoping that we can raise lots of money to get the partnership off to a great start."

Catrin Hale, senior partnership manager for Macmillan Cancer Support, said: "We aim to ensure that no one has to face cancer alone, and the support of everyone from the Homebase store in St Albans will help us be there for more people when they need us most."

Further plans include support of Macmillan’s national fundraising events Night In and World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, as well as bespoke fundraising activity linked to key trading periods for the business.
