Firefighters were called to St Albans Retail Park yesterday.
Crews from St Albans and Watford were called at 2.20pm to Griffiths Way after reports of an unsafe metal sign.
The specialist Aerial Ladder Platform was used and crews used a saw to make the scene safe.
