Police are appealing for witnesses after an alleged hit and run in St Albans.

The collision occurred on Watling Street, between 9.15pm and 9.25pm on Friday, April 17.

Between these times, a red Nissan Micra was travelling along the road from Vesta Avenue, towards the Park Street roundabout, when it was involved in a collision with a silver Vauxhall Astra travelling in the opposite direction.

The driver of the Micra, a man in his 70s, was initially thought to have suffered serious injuries but is now recovering.

It is alleged that the driver of the Astra did not stop at the scene.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact police via the non-emergency number 101, quoting crime reference F3/15/583.

A 47-year-old man from St Albans has been arrested in connection with the incident and has been released on bail until May 26.
