People will step back in time as they celebrate Victory in Europe Day in St Albans this weekend.
Public buildings across Hertfordshire will observe a two minute silence at 3.00pm today.
There will also be a Thanksgiving service at St Albans Abbey along with bell ringing tomorrow.
On Sunday, there will be the Beating the Bounds event with St Albans Mayor Geoff Harrison.
Beating the Bounds will begin at 2pm at the pudding stone in front of Kingsbury Mill in St Michael’s village.
The 4.5 mile walk is expected to last approximately two hours and will finish at Verulamium Museum.
VE Day marks the unconditional surrender of Nazi forces in 1945, ending the Second World War in Europe.
