An anthology of prose and poetry has been developed by St Albans people in support of Mental Health Awareness Week.

Created by participants in a creative writing project funded by St Albans Health and Wellbeing Partnership, the anthology - Tell Me On A Monday - will be launched on Saturday, May 16, at Waterstone's book shop in St Peter's Street.

Prize-winning St Albans poet, John Mole and the Mayor of St Albans City and District, Councillor Geoff Harrison, will be among the guests.

Cllr Rosemary Farmer, chair of St Albans Health and Wellbeing Partnership, says: “This creative writing project has helped local people build their self-esteem and confidence.

"Please support these budding poets and writers and come along to the launch in Waterstone’s on Saturday.”

Cllr Alec Campbell, Resources portfolio holder for St Albans City and District Council, says: “As part of our grants programme, we provide funding to a number of organisations to run projects that address mental health and emotional wellbeing.”

They will be joined by creative writers, staff and volunteers from mental health services in the District.

Mental Health Awareness Week began this year on Monday, May 11, and runs until Sunday, May 17.

It aims to raise awareness, and generate debate, around mental health issues with a view to stamping out inequality for people suffering mental health problems.
