Users of the Abbey Line Community Rail Line can now enjoy countryside walks and explore beautiful sights on a new trail.

The next Abbey Line Trail walk will take place on Bank Holiday Monday, May 25 along a three mile section of the trail, starting at Park Street and ending at Bricket Wood.

The complete nine mile trail is divided into four short walks, with each one starting from stations on the St Albans Abbey to Watford Junction railway line and exploring the River Ver and its valley. A further two organised walks will take place in the summer, completing the trail.

Anyone planning to attend should meet at Bricket Wood station at 10.15 am in order to catch the train to Park Street for the start of the walk, or alternatively go straight to the start of the walk.

Terry Douris, cabinet member for Highways, said: "I am delighted that once again the CMS has teamed up with CRP to organise these walks.

"The walks are an opportunity for residents to come together, view the sights of the surrounding areas while also encouraging the use of rail travel."

The walks are free of charge but you will have to pay to travel on the train.

These events are taking place as part of Hertfordshire’s Year of Walking, for more opportunities to get walking visit www.hertsdirect.org/walking.
