The St Albans Museums and Galleries Trust will be one of two charities supporting the city's half marathon.
The trust are encouraging people to take part in one of the St Albans Half Marathon events and help them raise money towards creating a new museum and gallery in the St Albans Town Hall.
Events in the half marathon include the 5K race, the 1.5 mile children's fun run, a walking half marathon and a hald marathon.
Annie Brewster, trustee for the charity said: "You can contribute to the new museum and gallery project at the same time as getting fit by just entering or, even better, even better, getting sponsored for your particular race.
"What a wonderful way for people of all ages to support this city changing project whether you want to walk or run anything from the full Half Marathon distance to 1.5 miles. You do not have to be dressed in convict outfits, although I will be presenting a prize for the most appropriately dressed competitor."
