The following cases were heard before St Albans magistrates between February 20 and February 27.

Friday, February 20

John Pearson, 61, of Lye Lane, Bricket Wood. Application to reopen a case following conviction for the offences of no seat belt, two defective tyres and obscured registration mark. Case reopened. Conviction and sentence set aside. Endorsement removed. New sentence: Fine, costs: £1,225. Three penalty points.

Anisoara Mitocaru, 22, of Watling Street, Radlett. On August 17, 2014, drove on M1 northbound at 97mph, the legal limit being 70mph. Fine, costs: £240. Six penalty points.

The following were convicted of watching a colour television without a licence (fine plus costs in brackets; those marked * were dealt with in their absence): *Clive Ford, 39, of Century Close, St Albans (£560); Theresa Goulding, 43, of Gorham Drive, St Albans (£117); *Shane Mulley, 42, of Marshall Avenue, St Albans (£340).

Monday, February 23

Anderson Martin Andrew, 43, of Wells Close, St Albans. On February 20, 2015, used threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour or disorderly behaviour causing a police officer harassment, alarm or distress. Also, similarly, with a second police officer. Also, on same date, failed to provide a specimen of breath in the course of an investigation into whether had committed an offence. Also, was in possession of a small amount of cannabis, a class B drug. Fine, costs: £455. Banned from driving for three years.

Mark Stephen Lister Connell, 41, of Noke Shot, Harpenden. On February 21, 2015, attended a specific address contrary to restraining order imposed on August 28, 2014. Fine, costs: £255.

Suriya Welch, of Hazelwood Drive, St Albans. On September 26, 2014, failed to deliver to the Secretary of State that part of the registration document containing the required particulars relating to the notification of the transfer of the vehicle to a person who was not a vehicle trader. Fine, costs: £310.

Tuesday, February 24

Brian Andrew Moran, 52, of Pickford Hill, Batford, Harpenden. On February 4, 2015, was guilty, while drunk, of disorderly behaviour at Harpenden train station. Discharged conditionally for six months. Costs: £15.

Elliot Kay-Jessop, 24, of Hornbeams, Bricket Wood. On August 25, 2014, drove in North Western Avenue, Watford, at a speed in excess of the 40mph limit. Fine, costs: £321. Banned from driving for 28 days.

Wednesday, February 25

Marc Shane Hardey, 32, of Lecturn Lane, St Albans. On February 24, 2015, was in possession of 6g of cannabis, a class B drug. Fine, costs: £120.

Patricia Margaret Ewer, 72, of High Oaks, St Albans. On September 1, 2014, failed to stop after an accident where damage was caused to another vehicle. Also, on same date, failed to report accident to police station within 24 hours; drove without due care and attention. Fine, costs: £240. Six penalty points.

Alexandria Edward, 30, of The Ridgeway, St Albans. On August 15, 2014, failed to comply with red light traffic signal. Fine, costs: £305. Three penalty points.

Thursday, February 26

Jane Elizabeth Kavalieros, 51, of Lowbell Lane, London Colney. On August 17, 2014, drove in Allum Lane, Borehamwood, at 44mph, the legal limit being 30mph. Fine, costs: £185. Four penalty points.

John Stanley Lawrence, 72, of The Beeches, Park Street. On August 28, 2014, drove in Watford Road, Chiswell Green, at 40mph, the legal limit being 30mph. Fine, costs: £371. Three penalty points.

Friday, February 27

Saleh Ahmed Choudhury, 47, of Queens Court, Hatfield Road, St Albans. On February 8, 2015, damaged windscreen of a vehicle. Fine, compensation, costs: £380.

Hugh Alexander Sparrow, 22, of St Albans Road, Sandridge. On November 22, 2014, drove in Batchwood Drive, St Albans, after consuming so much alcohol the proportion in breath was 116 microgrammes in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes. Also, on same date, used a vehicle without insurance. Fine, costs: £255. Banned from driving for 12 months, to be reduced by three months if approved course undertaken.

Michael John Stevens, 54, of Park Street Lane, Park Street. On August 10, 2014, drove in Mutton Lane, Potters Bar, at 38mph, the legal limit being 30mph. Fine, costs: £290. Three penalty points.
