The following cases were heard before magistrates between March 30 and April 5. 

Monday, March 30

George Barratt, 23, of Dellfield, St Albans. On November 13, 2014, en route near Elstree and Borehamwood, entered a train for the purpose of travelling without having a valid ticket entitling travel. Fine, compensation, costs: £344.

Jahid Choudhury, 39, of Harvey Road, St Albans. On December 11, 2014, at St Albans station, without the written permission of the operator, touted for custom for a taxi. Fine, costs: £125.

Fiona Cunningham, 26, of Watling Street, St Albans. On November 19, 2014, at St Albans station, failed to hand over ticket for inspection and verification of validity when asked to do so by an authorised person. Fine, compensation, costs: £343.80.

Evadney Hughes, 51, of Temple View, St Albans. Between September 24, 2014, and October 25, 2014, used a colour television without a licence. Fine, costs: £340. (Verdict proved in absence).

Tuesday, March 31

Michelle Lillian Taylor, 44, of Shottfield Close, Sandridge. On March 14, 2015, stole two packs of beer from Tesco. St Albans. Commission of a further offence while subject to a conditional discharge for 18 months imposed on March 10, 2015, for theft from shop (x2). Discharged conditionally for 18 months. Costs: £45. No action taken on breach.

Lee Peter Allen, 36, of Sturmer Close, St Albans. On October 23, 2014, drove in Drakes Drive, St Albans, at a speed in excess of the 30mph legal limit. Fine, costs: £497. Six penalty points.

Adrian Krzysztof Zawis, 30, of Trumpington Drive, St Albans. On September 19, 2014, drove in Drakes Drive, St Albans, at 37mph, the legal limit being 30mph. Fine, costs: £305. Three penalty points.

Thursday, April 2

Patricia Alexander, 48, of Cottonmill Lane, St Albans. On October 23, 2014, drove in Drakes Drive, St Albans, at 38mph, the legal limit being 30mph. Fine, costs: £170. Three penalty points.

Julie Valerie Herbert, 48, of Pilgrim Close, Park Street. On December 14, 2014, damaged a car bonnet belonging to another. Also, on same date, damaged a rear door and rear bumper. Also, on same date, assaulted a person, thereby occasioning her actual bodily harm, and drove in Queens Road, Harpenden, without due care and attention. Committed to prison for 12 weeks suspended for 12 months. Order includes unpaid work requirement. Compensation, costs: £825. Restraining order made. Nine penalty points.

Jamie Paul Carrier, 36, of Holyrood Crescent, St Albans. On January 20, 2015, stole meat from the Co-op, St Albans. Also, similarly, on February 2, 2015. Also, on February 4, 2015, stole meat from Morrisons, St Albans. Committed to prison for four weeks suspended for 12 months. Compensation, costs: £369.23.

Nicholas James Robin Farmer, 22, of Tudor Road, St Albans. Between December 1, 2012, and October 13, 2014, pursued a course of conduct which amounted to harassment of a person. Commit-ted to prison for six weeks suspended for 24 months. Restraining order made. Costs: £165.

Gary Leslie Sippetts, 61, of Driftwood Avenue, Chiswell Green. On September 30, 2014, drove in Aldenham Road, Bushey, at a speed in excess of the 30mph legal limit. Fine, costs: £107. Banned from driving for six months.
