A former psychiatrist has been appointed as the new vicar of a St Albans church.

Reverand Dr Nick Weir will take up the post at Holy Trinity Church in Frogmore from September 30.

Originally from Harpenden, Rev Weir, has been working as a curate at a church in Basingstoke for the last four years, having previously practiced psychiatry.

The church regularly welcomes more than 100 people om St Albans and the surrounding areas to their many activities.

Rev Weir said: "I am looking forward to joining Holy Trinity and helping them serve Frogmore, Park Street and St Albans.

"It's an exciting and challenging time to be a Christian in the UK today and we're keen to explore new ways of living God's love in the local community."

Churchwarden, Mike Horne, said: "We are delighted to be welcoming Nick to the team at Holy Trinity and are hugely excited at the opportunities we have to share.

"Nick brings tremendous experience from his current church and we're looking forward to him meeting our community and working with other churches in the area."

Rev Weir's induction service will take place at Holy Trinity Church on Wednesday, September 30 at 7.30pm.
