A man has been taken to hospital after a car crashed into a barrier on the M25 this morning.

Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue used cutting equipment to rescue a trapped man following a crash on the clockwise M25 near Junction 22, London Colney, just after 8am.

The man, believed in his 50s, was taken to Barnet General Hospital with an abdomen injury.

Spokesman for Hertfordshire Police Sarah Spence confirmed all three lanes were closed while officers and Highways England recovered the blue Peugeot 208.

Ms Spence confirmed traffic was flowing again by 9.45am.

Firefighters remained on-scene for almost an hour after being called by the ambulance service at 8.16am.
