The façade of a grade II listed building in the centre of St Albans has been restored.
Contractors have been working since January to repair the structural brickwork to the front of the St Albans City Council-owned building at 35 Market Place.
Work is now complete and the scaffolding removed. Minor decorative work to make good the interior is currently being undertaken and is due to finish shortly.
Cllr Brian Ellis, who is responsible for housing, said: “The exterior of this beautiful and historic building in the heart of our city has now been restored. I want to thank tenants, adjoining retailers and market traders for their patience while this essential work was carried out.”
The council is seeking to re-let the empty office space on the first floor. Anyone interested in letting the space can contact the council’s estates’ team on 01727 819516 or by email at estates@stalbans.gov.uk.
