A park in Chiswell Green has been given a prestigious award that recognises the best parks and green spaces in the country.
Greenwood Park, which is owned by St Stephen Parish Council, has been awarded the Green Flag for the third time.
The 62 acre park is used by a wide variety of community groups in addition to being the location for many of the parish council’s community events..?
In total, 1582 parks, cemeteries, universities, shopping centres and community gardens in the UK have met the high standard needed to receive the Green Flag Award or the Green Flag Community Award this year, with Bricket Wood Common and Hanstead Wood also receiving awards.
Cllr Mick Freeman, parish council chairman said: “It’s great to receive the Green Flag Award once again and it confirms what the local residents already know – that Greenwood Park is one of the best parks in the country, and has been for a number of years.
"The parish council and its staff put in a great deal of work to ensure that the park meets the needs of the community and it is very gratifying to get the recognition with this national award."
