Police are closing the M1 northbound near St Albans after an accident earlier today.

A taxi and a lorry were involved in a collision on the M1 just before junction 9 (Harpenden) at 11.40am.

Police, ambulance and Fire and Rescue are currently at the scene. The road is being closed to allow for the recovery of the vehicles.

A male driver is suspected to have head injuries.

Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes if they can. Traffic is backed up past junction 6A (M25 junction) and there are also delays now on the A414.
