A garden party in aid of people suffering life limiting illnesses has raised more than £900.

London Colney Parish Council chairman Malcolm MacMillan and his wife Angela organised the event at their home to raise money for the Peace Hospice.

More than 60 guests were entertained with music from Leigh Casling and Kirsta Johnston as they enjoyed traditional afternoon tea on one of the hottest days of the year.

Following the opening of the Peace Hospice charity shop in the village nine months ago, London Colney Parish Council adopted the Hospice as one of its charities for the year.

Council Chairman MacMillan said: "This was a marvellous response from local people who gave generously and have affectionately supported the charity.

"The hospice has provided exceptional in-patient care and other services for residents of the village and St Albans, and we feel honoured to be able to befriend such a caring service."
