THE Shadow Minister for Agriculture and Rural Affairs paid a visit to Harpenden today, in a bid to highlight the town's environmental issues.

MP James Paice's tour around the award winning Harpenden common was lead by Tory Harpenden Town Councillor Teresa Heritage, who also informed him of the threats the town faced from the potential Luton Airport expansion and current East of England plans.

Councillor Heritage, also the leader of the Tory group in the St Albans district, said: "We were thrilled to have the Shadow Minister visit Harpenden, who recognised the excellent job undertaken by the Conservative led town council, and its exemplary custodianship and care for the town's common and greens."

The MPs experience in Harpenden will now be fed back to the Shadow Cabinet, something cllr Heritage hopes will put pressure on the Government to change its "ludicrous" policy to "concrete" the South of England.
