Firefighters have returned to a waste yard in St Albans where a major blaze took three months to put out in 2012.
Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue has been called to a waste site in Appspond Lane this morning.
Spokesman for the fire service Alison Mully told the St Albans and Harpenden Review “there is not a fire but there is smoke and steam coming from a wood chip pile.
She added: “There are staff from the company who are dealing with it and we have a crew who are there liaising with them.
“We are not doing any firefighting.”
The fire started on 10 November 2012 but it was put out in February 2013. The Environment Agency revoked the permit the licence shortly after.
The blaze destroyed 10,000 tonnes of wood and 172 fire engines visited the site between November 10 and November 26.
Wood Recycling Services then stopped commercial wood activity at the site shortly after.
