For most young women, breastfeeding is an integral part of bringing up a child, but for Jodi Wilson unbearable pain was a sign that something was seriously wrong.
What doctors believed to be a blocked milk duct, turned out to be breast cancer and now the 27-year-old from Radlett, is strutting the catwalk to send a message to younger women that it can happen at any age.
Mrs Wilson was diagnosed with cancer in 2013, just five months after giving birth to her son.
She said: "I was taking a shower when I found a tiny lump near my nipple. The doctor said it was probably a blocked milk duct as I had just had a baby.
She said: "I was taking a shower when I found a tiny lump near my nipple. The doctor said it was probably a blocked milk duct as I had just had a baby.
"I couldn't breast feed my son because when my milk came I was in so much pain it was unbearable."
Mrs Wilson, who recently got married and moved to Totteridge, said because there was a family history of breast cancer, she pushed for more tests to be done.
She added: "When I went to get my results I did not think in a million years that it would be cancer.
"I was shocked when I heard the news and I had this whole out of body experience.
"It was like I was a fly in the room watching myself hear the news but not really processing any of it."
Mrs Wilson had a double mastectomy, but during the operation surgeons found that the cancer and spread to her lymph nodes, which meant she had to undergo chemotherapy as well.
She said: "I needed six rounds of chemotherapy and after each one I ended up in hospital for around five days. I felt so ill.
"It also meant I missed a lot of my sons first year.
"I was so determined, my chemo finished a week before he turned one and luckily I was able to throw him a party, it was a huge incentive to get through everything.
Mrs Wilson added that she now wants to share her experience and encourage women to starting checking themselves from a young age.
And to do this, she will be strutting the catwalk at the celebrity-hosted London fashion show, at Grosvenor House Hotel on Wednesday, October 7.
