The sun got a food festival sizzling in Harpenden yesterday.

From the nutritional and healthy, to the indulgent naughty but nice, Harpenden’s second Food and Drink Festival brought Church Green alive.

Alongside Harpenden’s monthly Farmers’ Market, the Street Food event took place on Sunday, September 27 as part of St Albans and Harpenden Food Festival. Residents and visitors basked in autumn sunshine as a variety of stalls were set up around Church Green with traders offering a selection of food and drink from local businesses from Harpenden and the surrounding areas.

A cookery theatre was running throughout the day with some of the demonstrations from local celebrity chefs, food writers and businesses including the food teachers Katharine Tate, Patti Sloley and Theo Michaels.

The Town Mayor Cllr Brian Ellis said: "It was lovely to see so many residents and visitors to the town enjoying a great selection of food and drink. Our monthly Farmers’ Market always offers a huge array of food and the Food and Drink Festival stalls and demonstrations contributed to the wonderful atmosphere in the town.”
