A senior citizens fair in Harpenden was attended by more than 300 people last week.

The fair, on Thursday, October 1, was organised by Harpenden Seniors Forum to give advice about voluntary, commercial services and leisure opportunities on offer to senior citizens throughout the district.

Harpenden’s deputy town mayor, Cllr Nicola Linacre, joined members of the Women's Institute taking part in a baking competition.

WI branch president Denise Moores said: "We were not charging for our cakes or drinks but people donated very generously and we collected an amazing £280 on behalf of Community Meeting Point."

Stallholder John Talbot ,of Computer Friendly, which offers free computer training for seniors in St Albans and Harpenden said: "We had attended before and found it an excellent way of finding seniors who need help with their computers. We signed up 30 new clients for our courses and newsletters so it was well worth the effort."
