Staff at a St Albans bank will be locked in glass offices to raise awareness of autism.

The week long event, which has been organised by harc - the Hertfordshire branch of the National Autistic Society, will start on Monday, October 19 at the Barclays store in St Peters Street.

Each day of the week, one member of staff will be locked in a glass office at the front of the store.

Maxine Bromyard, chair of harc, said: "The idea behind this is to stimulate what it is like to have autism - to see the world but not be part of it."

Harc is a self-funding charity that provides information and support to families with autism in the county.

The staff member who will be locked in will have access to a computer only, no mobile phones and will be let out for toilet breaks.

There will also be a pop up shop in store where people can find out information about autism and make donations.
