A time capsule filled with much-loved Peter Rabbit items and a copy of the Review will be buried under a new construction at Willows Activity Farm.

A capsule containing Peter Rabbit books, a soft Peter toy, Willows Newsletter announcing the new adventure playground, a Peter Rabbit Magazine and a copy of the St Albans & Harpenden Review are among items to be buried under the UK’s first Peter Rabbit Adventure Playground, which opens in April 2016.

Copies of local newspapers will also be included to give a flavour of life in Hertfordshire in 2015.

The time capsule will be buried underneath the 100 year old ash tree that will soon be transformed into The Peter Rabbit Secret Treehouse – the centrepiece of the new attraction.

A plaque will also be placed on the tree to commemorate the occasion, and a letter from Willows chief executive Andrew Wolfe will explain the contents of the capsule for future generations.

Mr Wolfe said: “We’re delighted to be welcoming Peter Rabbit to Willows next year, and what better way to mark the beginning of the construction of the new area than with a time capsule?

“Peter is already loved by generations of children. We are very proud to be the location of the first-ever Peter Rabbit Adventure Playground and want to ensure Peter’s legacy is preserved and loved for many more generations to come.

“We hope that when our time capsule is discovered in the future, the people who find it will be reunited with a fondly-remembered friend.”

The new Peter Rabbit Adventure Playground at Willows is being created in partnership with Silvergate Media, the co-producers and global licensing agent of the CGI animated TV series ‘Peter Rabbit’.

It will feature new play areas centred on the much-loved stars of the animated CBeebies series ‘Peter Rabbit’.

Thomas Merrington, VP Brand & Creative, Silvergate Media said: “Parents and children alike love Peter Rabbit so it’s great that the time capsule includes elements of the classic stories and the new animated Peter Rabbit, especially with the 2016 opening coinciding with the 150th anniversary of the birth of Beatrix Potter - he is truly a timeless character.”
