These dramatic pictures show the damage caused in high winds from Storm Barney.
Across the county trees were brought down and there were reports of damage to roofs and chimneys as the storm hit.
Rail services between St Albans and Harpenden have been delayed all day after a tree caught fire at St Albans City station (pictured below by Damian Dowling.)
A yellow weather warning had been issued by the Met Office ahead of the storm, which became the second to be christened under the Met Office's 'name our storms' project, with gusts of up to 70mph and as much as two inches of rain forecast across the region this evening and overnight.

A huge oak tree was also blown into the lake at Verulamium Park, pictured below by Matt Bigg.
A St Albans council spokesperson confirmed that the area around the tree had been cordoned off and contractors would be removing it piece by piece.
Kerry Symmons also sent in a picture of the tree (below).
Elsewhere, trampolines have been going walkies.
This trampoline was found by Kathryn Cooney in Porters End. Below, Andy Lawrence took this picture at Bluehouse Hill.
