A polar bear, live music and festive food and drink stalls will make up this year’s St Albans Christmas Market.

The city’s Vintry Village, which can be found in St Albans Cathedral’s walled Vintry Garden, will be launching this week complete with street names such as Rudolph Row, Tinsel Terrace and Pudding Place.

Bjorn the polar bear, back by popular demand, will be joined by an ice juggler, music from Dauphin and Alex and the Christmas Lights and stalls will be offering gift ideas, as well as old favourites such as Bratwurst and hot pork rolls.

Last year, the Christmas Market doubled its visitors to 90,000 up from 45,000 in 2013 and this year, the market is hoping to attract even more people.

The market will be official opened on Thursday, November 26 between 5pm and 7.45pm.

The St Albans Mayor, Cllr Salih Gaygusuz will cut the ribbon at 7.15pm.

The market will run from the grand opening through to Sunday, December 20.

Opening hours are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 11am until 6pm, Thursday from 11am until 8pm and Saturday and Sunday from 10am until 6pm.
