A box containing 17th century clothing, armour and weapons has been stolen from St Albans.

The re-enactment items were being loaded into a car outside the Scout Hut in Riverside Road, Monday, November 2, at 7.40pm, before they were taken.

The man who was loading the car had left the box, which contained a 17th century steel helmet, replica sword and dagger and 17th century clothing, by the car while he went into the Scout Hut to collect other boxes.

When he returned the box had been taken.

PC Ben Kirby from the safer neighbourhood team is investigating and said: “I would appeal to anyone in the area at the time and saw what happened or anyone who had any information on where these items may be now to please contact me.”

Anyone who can assist is asked to contact Herts Police via 101.
