The annual Schools Art Exhibition will be held at the Samuel Ryder Academy in St Albans this weekend.

The event, now in its 5th year, has a collection of artwork from students across primary and secondary schools from around St Albans.

The work on display will include collaborative pieces from three junior schools and GCSE and A Level work from the secondary schools.

Samuel Ryder Academy headteacher, Matt Gauthier, said: “We are honoured to once again be hosting the Schools Art Exhibition.

“The work on display is of an exceptionally high standard and the event is always very well attended.

“The level of skill and creativity of the students in our schools is quite remarkable.”

The exhibition allows those with artistic talent to witness the exceptionally high standard of art within education today.

Elizabeth Kelly, director of learning for visual arts at Sandringham School, said: “The annual Schools Art Exhibition is a unique opportunity for our young artists and we are delighted to be invited to exhibit this year.

“Every year, it is inspiring to see the outstanding artwork produced and also the range of artistic approaches.

“It is wonderful to collaborate with schools across Hertfordshire to celebrate our student’s achievements in such an exciting event.

“There is a real sense that we are all working together to celebrate the role of art in school and showcase the creative achievements of our students.”
