Two women were arrested thanks to quick-thinking staff at New Look.

A member of staff contacted police and other retailers in The Maltings using the St Albans Business Against Crime (SABAC) radios after spotting two women acting suspiciously in the store last Monday.

As a result, police were able to track down and arrest two women in The Maltings car park matching the description given by the member of staff.

A magnetic de-tagger and over £800 worth of clothes was recovered.

A 44-year-old woman and a 52-year-old woman, both from London, have been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to steal. They have been bailed, with a condition not to enter The Maltings.

They are due to appear at Hatfield police station on February 17.

SABAC radios enable quick live communication between the shops, police and CCTV that led to the arrests. SABAC is a private partnership that provides information to members about people who should be monitored in shops due to their past offending and/or suspicious behaviour.
