Most people have had pizza or curry delivered to their door.

But what about a portion of fish and chips? A freshly squeezed fruit juice? Or a McDonald's Happy Meal?

The restaurant meals on wheels service Deliveroo has today launched in St Albans.

Customers can place their orders on the website for restaurants within a certain radius of their home or office.

The service has now partnered up with more than 10 restaurants in the city - including Carluccios and Zizi - and promises an average delivery time of 32 minutes for £2.50.

More than 70 jobs will be created over the course of the first year, with the majority of these being Deliveroo riders.

Jeremy Rawlinson, general manager at Deliveroo, said: “We’re extremely excited to be launching in St Albans and we’re looking forward to bringing some of the city’s delicious dishes straight from the hands of local chefs to customers’ doors.

“We already have a number of great partners across the city and we are excited to expand and widen the variety of restaurants on offer to our customers in St Albans over the course of the next year.”
