A keen marathon runner has completed four races in just over a week to raise money for four charities close to his heart.

Simon Warner, planning manager at Heronslea Group, from Leighton Buzzard, has clocked up a total of 50 miles - the equivalent of running along the M24 all the way from Heathrow to Dartford – to fundraise for the charities which include Abbots Langley’s DEMAND.

Mr Warner completed the London Marathon on April 24 in three hours and 38 minutes, the Milton Keynes Parkrun on April 30, the Milton Keynes Rocket Sprint the next day and completed his challenge running the Milton Keynes Marathon on May 2 in three hours and 48 minutes.

He said: “The challenge was four races in a week for four great charities – DEMAND, Fop Friends, Fight Bladder Cancer and WIllen Hospice.

“To date I have raised just over £3,000.

“Having run marathons before I chose this bigger challenge to give myself a real test which would attract a good level of support from my brilliant sponsors.

“Through the challenge I was motivated by the amazing support I received from the charities and my family and through the drive not to let the charities down.”

Denise Gillies, fundraising manager at DEMAND, added: “We’re thrilled to have Simon’s support.

“Most of us would break out in a cold sweat at the thought of running just one marathon and Simon has managed to complete two marathons and two 5k races in the space of just nine days.

“He’s a committed fundraiser and has shown his support for DEMAND’s life changing work time and time again.”

In 2015 Heronslea sponsored the charity’s inclusive sports kits project and helped nine schools and clubs in the area get access to specialist inclusive sports equipment.
