Swimmers who will compete in a European competition followed in the footsteps of Olympic giants as the countdown to the championship continues.

Twelve swimmers from St Albans masters swimmers stepped up their training by practising in the London Aquatics Centre in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

The European Masters Championships is being held at the same time as the LEN European Swimming, Diving and Synchronised Swimming Championships to form the LEN European Aquatics Championships 2016.

The competition starts on Wednesday, May 25.

Craig Kirkland, STAM's chairman said "We wanted to get familiar and comfortable with the feel of the pool and its atmosphere, we've done that and it's taken away the mental worry you can have about a venue before a big competition like this.

"We are very excited to be mixing with, and competing against, so many different nationalities and can’t wait for the event to start."
