Rail travellers can email, Tweet and Facebook at stations in Hertfordshire.

Free Wi-Fi is now accessible at Elstree and Borehamwood, Radlett, St Albans and Harpenden stations.

Charles Horton, CEO of Govia Thameslink Railway, which runs the four routes, said: “There’s no advertising and no catch – just free unlimited Wi-Fi for whoever logs on at 105 of our stations.

“Passengers can use our On Track app to see the progress of their trains, plan journeys and even book a ticket.

“They’ll be able to Facebook their friends, tweet and check emails – everything that’s possible in the connected world.”

The service is provided by O2 and there is no advertising.

Travellers have the option to opt out of marketing messages when they sign up.
