Hertfordshire County Council is launching a new year-long campaign to get more people volunteering.

Hertfordshire Year of Volunteering is all about promoting the benefits of volunteering and celebrating the contribution of the thousands of people who volunteer already.

The campaign, which coincides with national Volunteers Week, is being supported by a range of organisations from across the county.

These organisations and many others from both the public and voluntary sectors work closely with volunteers each and every day.

Alison Evans, from St Albans, volunteers for Hertfordshire County Council’s Countryside Management Service as a footpath friend and practical conservation volunteer.

She said: “I like the fact that volunteering is so flexible, you can do as much or as little as you want, according to how much time you have got and what else you have got on.

“I have been to places in Hertfordshire I might not otherwise have visited which has enabled me to enjoy the variety of beautiful landscapes that are here.”
