A budding children’s author visited nursery children to launch his brand new book.

Alex Weintroub, 26, from Mill Hill, visited St Albans nursery and Montessori pre-school in Hatfield Road to launch his new book Tilly the Tiger.

As part of the book launch, the nursery held a competition judged by Mr Weintroub which saw children paint their very own tiger pictures.

The winner was Charlotte Wood, 4, who received a hard back copy of the book.

Lorraine Middleton, nursery manager at the nursery and pre-school, said: “This is a great story for all ages with colourful pictures and some lovely rhymes.

“Alex was brilliant with the children and they were captivated as he told the story of Tilly the Tiger.

“We use storytelling in all aspects of child development at the nursery, as it captures children’s imaginations and makes learning fun.

“We now have our very own copies of the book in the children’s rooms and we’re delighted that Alex visited as part of his book launch.”

Mr Weintroub has been working with children for seven years in schools and at activity camps.

He said: “I had such a brilliant time at the St Albans nursery and Montessori pre-school and it was great to see all the children so excited about the story.

“Writing for children is my passion and I’ve been writing poetry from a very young age.

“Tilly the Tiger is an educational, picture and poetry book which relates to a lot of experiences that children go through.

“I am a firm believer that storytelling is important in helping children to develop.

“The book is now available on Amazon and I am hoping it will be the first of many.”
