It was a right royal affair at schools and venues across the district as communities came together to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday.

From a teddy bears picnic in Wheathampstead to school corridor parties, the region did itself proud in honouring Her Majesty's special day.

Pupils at St John Fisher were joined by their families, school supporters and residents for a traditional tea party on Saturday - which was attended by a life size model of the Queen.

Elsewhere, a street party full of smiling faces was held in Charmouth Road.

The celebration was organised by a group of friends who also got together to arrange festivities for the Golden Jubilee.

British spirit prevailed in Hill End Lane where celebrations marking the Queen’s 90th birthday continued, despite periods of heavy rain.

Harpenden came together for a street party in Pennycroft and Prospect Lane with lots of traditional family entertainment.

In Sandridge, the village summer fete included the Sandridge Knitted Village decked out with festive bunting.
