A vigil has been held in Watford to remember to victims of the mass shootings in Orlando.

Crowds gathered at Load of Hay to show their solidarity with the victims and pay tribute to their memory.

America is in mourning after the worst mass shooting in its history which left 49 people dead after an attack on a gay nightclub.

Representatives from Herts Aid, Hertfordshire Pride as well as local members of the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) community attended the event in Watford Heath.

The Watford Safer Neighbourhood Team’s Sgt Steve Alison and PCSO Linda Davey also attended in order to pay their respects.

Rainbow candles were lit to show support for the families of the victims of the attack on Sunday, which saw 49 people at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando killed by a gunman.

Crowds have gathered across the UK since it happened to pay their respects to the victims and their families and friends.

Sgt Alison, who is also one of Hertfordshire Constabulary’s LAGLOs (or Lesbian and Gay Liaison Officers), said: “After this shocking event in Orlando, a number of people wanted to observe a vigil in order to express their solidarity with the LGBT community at this time.”
