The annual Harpenden Highland Gathering is set to return this July with an action packed family day out.

The event will be held in Rothamsted Park, Harpenden, on Sunday, July 10 with a number of different entertainment and activities for all tastes.

There will be races, golf challenges, a climbing wall, go-karting, rugby with Harpenden RFC Minis, a funfair and numerous craft stalls.

Harpenden Lions president John Powell said: “This is a special annual fixture in the Harpenden calendar.

“The Highland Gathering is a great family day for locals and those from further afield.

“But we also have to remember that the event is a major fundraiser – our main beneficiaries this year are Diabetes Advice and Support Hertfordshire (DASH), the Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP), Association and the Harpenden Lions Club Life Skills programme for local schools.

“Typically, Harpenden Lions Club is able to donate as much as £15,000 to charities from the Highland Gathering with more money being raised by the many charities at their own stalls.”

On stage there will be a local singer/songwriter Emma McGrath, dancing displays from the Hiel’and Toe Club and Dance Studio and a Celtic rock band.

In the display arena, Hawkeye Falconry will perform bird of prey displays, farmer David Seamark will present his dog and duck show and there will be ferret racing.

The Highland Gathering runs from 10am to 5pm.
