A man convicted of running a cannabis farm has been evicted from his home.

Frederick Allas was found guilty of growing cannabis in his house and of possession of the drug with intent to supply, in April.

After the verdict, St Albans City and District Council were able to evict him from the property, in the Cell Barnes area, on August 3.

Neil Kieran, the council’s community protection officer, said: “Mr Allas was a council tenant who made substantial amounts of cannabis at his property.

“As soon as we were legally able, we took action to take back the property.

“Our action shows that we will always seek to recover a council property that has been used for producing or dealing drugs, or has been involved in other serious tenancy breaches.”

St Albans chief inspector Shane O’Neill said: “The police work very closely with the City and District Council in St Albans in order to help keep the community as free as possible from the influence of criminals, such as Frederick Allas.

“We wholly support the approach of our colleagues in the Council and I have no doubt the public do too.”
